About us

In the morning

The children are welcomed by our pedagogical staff starting at 7h10 in the morning. Untill half of the groups are complete , they play together in the large front room
of Comme à la Maison and then children join their own group and start age-specific activities with their own teacher.

In the afternoon

In the afternoon most children take a nap. The small group which remains awake
is then gathered in a single room to play all together.

Starting at 16h00 parents start to pick-up their children. After 17h00 the remaining number of children is usually small and the children are then gathered in the big room to play untill 18h10 the closing time.

Some days the children will go to the park or in the garden. When all children
are together our pedagogical staff is encouraged to speak English with all children.

Typical daily activities

At Comme à la Maison daily activities can take various forms depending on children’s age and needs:

At CALM we have the Open Doors Policy (nl. het opendeurenbeleid), which stands
for  giving children a possibility to enlarge their life environment by letting them join activities with other groups on a regular basis. In this way children get to know other children, be challenged more, discover other group’s rooms, and this has a positive impact on their development. We apply the Open Doors Policy while going for example to: park, swimming pool, gymnastics or animal farm...

Children groups

During the day children are in separate groups adapted to their age and language needs.

  1. OpsommingstekenThe baby group - for children aged 3 months to 2 years old. This group is English speaking. The maximum number of children in this group is 5.

Each group has one to three fixed teachers assigned, depending on the number
of children in the group. Moreover, there is always at least one Backup teacher
(nl. achterwacht)
available in case a teacher gets sick or is not available for some reason. The founder and director of CALM, Fariba Motamedi lives in the building
and she takes the function of our Backup teacher, as she is flexible and available
on short notice. Each group has one fixed play/class room.

During vacations & holidays the groups depending on the numbers of childeren will
be merged together. Your child will always be cared by a known teacher, as we never work with any temporary teachers.

The planning and the formation of groups follow teacher-child-ration rules
nl. pedagogisch medewerker/kindratio PKR)
. We communicate with parents about
the possible changes in groups via our regular digital newsletter.
